- Grant Description
- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is committed to assisting State and Local governments and other agencies with the monitoring of critical infrastructures of the Nation's public and private railroad systems and focusing on prevention, deterrence, mitigation and response through the development and maintenance of a comprehensive technology system. The purpose of this opportunity is to provide a demonstration on a series of commercially available technologies, e.g. video, air quality sensors, etc., that could be beneficial for the protection of the National Capital Region rail corridor with the objective of reducing the risk of a terrorist attack on rail cars. Direct financial assistance is not provided. This project is to be awarded under a Cooperative Agreement, providing equipment, installation of the equipment (except for the installation of poles and fence posts, and performance of any other land disturbing activities), and services associated with the equipment such as operations and maintenance, technical assistance, and training.
