- Grant Description
- SAMHSAs National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative (NCTSI) is designed to improve treatment and services for all children and adolescents in the United States who have experienced traumatic events. The initiative addresses child trauma issues by creating a national network of grantees that work collaboratively to develop and promote effective community practices for children and adolescents exposed to a wide array of traumatic events. The role of the National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS) is to provide leadership, infrastructure, and support for the Network to achieve its goals of increasing access and raising the standard of care for traumatized children, adolescents, and their families. The National Child Traumatic Stress Network is composed of three types of centers: 1. The National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS) works with SAMHSA to develop and maintain the Network structure, provide technical assistance to grantees within the Network, oversee resource development and dissemination, and coordinate national education and training efforts; 2. The Treatment and Services Adaptation (TSA) Centers provide national expertise on specific types of traumatic events, population groups, and service systems and support the specialized adaptation of effective treatment and service approaches for communities across the country; and 3. The Community Treatment and Services (CTS) Centers implement and evaluate effective treatment and services in community settings and youth serving service systems and collaborate with other Network Centers on clinical issues, service approaches, policy, financing, and training issues.
