National Head Start Oral Health Resource Center: The primary purpose of this funding announcement is to provide financial support to establish a National Head Start Oral Health Resource Center (NHSOHRC) to support national, state and local health Head Start programs, professional organization, governments and foundations to enhance the quality of oral health of Head Start and Early Head Start children through the collection, review and dissemination of materials and models. Dental disease and its consequences is the number one unmet health need affecting children enrolled in Head Start programs. The goal of the program is to establish a principal vehicle for collection and dissemination of oral health technical and programmatic material to support the national initiative of elevating the oral health of Head Start and Early Head Start Children (HS/EHSC) to the highest level through education, prevention, early intervention and clinical care. The partnership of the Administration on Children, Youth ! and Families Head Start Bureau and the Health Resources and Services Administration Maternal and Child Health Bureau is based on the principle that Federal agencies working collaboratively with and in partnership with families, Head Start programs and with health care providers can promote the oral health and development of Head Start children.
