- Grant Description
- The National Laser Users Facility (NLUF) program is part of the Joint Program in High Energy Density Laboratory Plasmas. The NLUF provides access to the OMEGA Laser System for University and Industrial Scientists. The OMEGA Laser System is maintained and operated for NLUF participants by the University of Rochester/ Laboratory for Laser Energetics (UR/LLE) for the DOE/NNSA. The NLUF offers opportunities for University and Industrial Scientists to perform experiments in high-energy-density (HED) physics and inertial confinement fusion (ICF), including lasermatter interactions, such as laboratory astrophysics, properties of materials under HED conditions, laserplasma instabilities, etc. A total of approximately six (6) weeks of OMEGA Laser System operating time will be available for the NLUF in Fiscal Years 2009 and 2010. UR/LLE researchers are available for scientific collaboration and for assistance with user experiments. Principal Investigators are encouraged to collaborate with UR/LLE staff members.
