National Long-Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center: Long-term care ombudsman programs are established under the Older Americans Act (OAA), as amended to advocate for the rights and good care for residents of long-term care facilities. The purpose of the National Long-Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center is to provide training, technical assistance and support for State and regional ombudsmen in conducting their statewide programs, and to facilitate collaboration between ombudsmen and aging network entities in efforts to modernize the long-term care system as envisioned in the 2006 amendments to the Older Americans Act. The authorization for the Center and the amount of funding are specified in Section 202(a) (21) of the OAA.
