National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center: The purpose of the NMCOHRC is to serve the public through: identification and collection of information about oral health programs and initiatives; and provision of gathered information and materials to health professionals, policy makers, consumers, and others to assist them in improving oral health services for children, adolescents and their families. To this end, it will be necessary for the center to provide information and educational resource services. Grantee activities are expected to include: collecting and disseminating oral health program materials through print and electronic media, providing technical assistance to States, communities and other organizations, collaborating with other oral health organizations and training programs, facilitating communication among oral health officials and consultants, and raising awareness of oral health services provided by other grantees to States, communities and the public in general. This announcement also comprises the activities of the National Head Start Oral Health Resource Center that supports national, state and local Head Start programs, professional organizations, governments and foundations to enhance the quality of oral health of Head Start and Early Head Start children throught the collection, review and dissemination of materials and models. The partnership of the Adminstration on Children and Families Office of Head Start and the Health Resources and Services Administration Maternal and Child Health Bureau is based on the principle that Federal agencies working collaboerative with and in partnership with families, Head Start programs and with health care providers can promote the oral health and development of Head Start children.
