National NeuroAIDS Tissue Consortium (NNTC) Data Coordinating Center (DCC) (U01): The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) invites applications for a Data Coordination Center (DCC) to support the four National NeuroAIDS Tissue Consortium (NNTC) sites for a 5-year period beginning April 1, 2008. The purpose of this RFA is to solicit grant applications from an organization that (1) has database capabilities that allows them to effectively collect, organize, manage, and interpret and share data through clinical and brain banking operations and (2) can provide scientific expertise in HIV epidemiology and biostatistics and facilitate the development of a neuroAIDS scientific agenda based upon the NNTC data and cohort. The DCC scientific leader/principal investigator (DCCsPI) will have equal voting rights and responsibilities with the NNTC PIs in terms of the development of a consortium scientific agenda. The NIMH intends to commit approximately $450,000 direct costs in FY 2008 to fund 1 DCC for a period of up to 5 years. This RFA will use the Cooperative Agreement (U01) award mechanism and runs in conjunction with RFA-MH-08-021, which solicits applications from the four NNTCs. Eligible organizations include: For-profit organizations; non-profit organizations; public or private institutions, such as universities, colleges, hospitals, and laboratories; units of State and local governments; eligible agencies of the Federal government; domestic institutions, foreign institutions, and Faith-based or community-based organizations. An eligible organization must be institutionally independent of the current NNTC brain banks sites. Eligible principal investigators include individuals with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH support. An applicant institution may submit only one application in response to this RFA. Resubmissions (formerly revisions/amendments ) will not be accepted under this RFA. At this time it is not known whether or not this RFA will be reissued.
