National Quality Improvement Center for Preventive Services and Interventions in Indian Country: The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to award a 5-year cooperative agreement to establish a Quality Improvement Center (QIC) on the prevention and intervention of child abuse and neglect in American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities. The QIC will gather, generate, and disseminate knowledge regarding effective practice models for strengths-based, culturally relevant, trauma-informed, and preventive services and interventions for all forms of child maltreatment. As part of this work, the QIC will provide technical assistance and implementation assistance for two to five project sites. The purpose of the selected project sites is to implement and assess practice models that show promise in preventing child abuse and neglect and that may be implemented or adapted in other tribal child welfare systems. The objectives of the QIC are to: - Promote awareness and use of culturally relevant child maltreatment prevention and interventions services that are supported by practice-based evidence in tribal child welfare systems;- Improve holistic services for children and families who have experienced or are at risk of child abuse or neglect; and- Disseminate findings and support knowledge transfer from the QIC projects to the field. The goals of the QIC for Preventive Services and Interventions in Indian Country are to identify, implement, and disseminate culturally relevant services and interventions in AI/AN communities and to empower AI/AN families to develop or enhance the skills, capacities, and protective factors necessary to live healthy, stable lives with their families intact.
