National Technical Assistance Resource Center for the Prevention of Sexual Violence: In 2013, Congress reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), originally passed in 1994 to address sexual violence (SV). This legislation established the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) program, which funds state health departments to build primary prevention capacity. The VAWA Act also designated a National Resource Center for Sexual Assault (Resource Center) to provide resource information, policy, training, and technical assistance to state, local, and Indian tribal agencies; including state sexual assault coalitions and local sexual assault programs. The purposed of this supplemental funding announcement is for a resource center to provide national leadership, consultation, and technical assistance to the sexual violence prevention field and CDC's RPE cooperative agreement program recipients.
