- Grant Description
- The USFWS is not seeking applications. The USFWS plans to award this cooperative agreement under the Department Manual 505-2, using 2.14B(1) to justify a single source award to the Arbor Day Foundation. 2.14B(1) Unsolicited Proposal-the proposal award is the result of an unsolicited assistance application which represents a unique or innovative idea, method, or approach which is not the subject of a current or planned contract or assistance award but which is deemed advantageous to the program objectives. The Arbor Day Foundation working with Dimensions Educational Research Foundation is proposing the development of five Nature Explore Classrooms on Wildlife Refuge land across the country. In addition to representatives from the U.S Fish and Wildlife, the Nature Explore team consisting of a landscape architect and an educator would visit each site to create a concept plan for a Nature Explore Classroom. A workshop would be included for training on using the space at each site. In addition, an introductory orientation for local contractors who would install the outdoor classrooms at National Wildlife Refuges, using local youth from each region would be included. This proposal is in alignment with the Department of the Interiors initiative to engage and employ youth in natural resource focused careers.
