Grant Description: The Office of Naval Research (ONR) is interested in receiving proposals for research that describes and examines the best technologies for future Navy defense needs, including potential civil-military-education institution integrations for innovative scientific concepts, proposals that examine theoretical constructs and explore trade spaces, and present educational development and opportunity programs that will form the foundation for Counter Directed Energy Weapons (CDEW) research, and applied research in the future. Of particular interest is research in theories for future technologies that may be explored, developed and implemented to efficiently and effectively address the emerging Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) threats used against its existing or planned naval ship platforms, underwater systems, aviation systems and/or weapons systems. Also of high interest is the potential for "no cost" solutions where theory and small scale laboratory proofs may indicate that there is no requirement for a new acquisition program in order for the military to field a potential solution.
