New River Demonstration Wetlands Monitoring Program: Notice of Intent to Award Only Under this grant agreement, IID will conduct all routine sampling events for each wetland sampling locations Additionally, they hold the responsibility for the contracting and payment of consultants used for Project activities. Project activities include: Routine Wetlands Sampling Conduct quarterly water column sampling as well as annual sediment and plant sampling at the Imperial, Shank Road and Brawley wetland sites. In addition, a similar sampling program will be implemented at up to three wetland sites that are planned for construction at other locations along the New and Alamo Rivers. Flow data, fish tissue, and invertebrate samples will also be collected. Trace Elements Special Sampling A special sampling event will be conducted at the Imperial, Shank Road and Brawley wetlands to determine if selenium or other trace elements are being enriched within the particulate material found in the wetland system which could enter the food chain, by collecting water samples at the inlet and outlet of the wetlands and analyze the suspended material for approximately 50 trace elements, selenium in particular, and compare the results to data collected from the rivers as they discharge to the Salton Sea.
