Grant Description
The purpose of the program is to prevent and control non-communicable diseases (NCD) and their risk factors and advance health promotion in the Region of the Americas. Through ongoing collaboration between Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and CDC and an integrated approach to prevent and control NCD, PAHO can assist member countries to: a) Reduce the prevalence of NCD and their main shared modifiable risk factors or determinants of health through enhancement of public health capacity and infrastructure; b) Establish, strengthen, or advance public health surveillance to prevent NCD and promote health; c) Develop, integrate, and share NCD prevention and health promotion strategies, systems, interventions, policies, surveillance systems, and technology tools within countries or established networks; d) Develop, implement, and conduct community-based public health programs, policies, and best practices to prevent and control NCD and promote health; e) Develop, implement, and evaluate health indicators and systems to monitor, apply, and/or put into practice NCD prevention and control or health promotion programs, policies, interventions, and activities. f) Engage subject matter experts, stakeholders, and partners from appropriate sectors to share, produce, implement, evaluate and/or promote effective NCD prevention and health promotion programs, policies, interventions, and activities.
