Non-coding RNAs and Other Post-transcriptional Regulatory Mechanisms in Neuroplasticity and Addiction (R01): -Purpose. The purpose of this FOA is to stimulate research on non-coding RNAs and other post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms as they pertain to addictive processes. -Mechanism of Support. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will utilize the R01 grant mechanism and runs in parallel with a FOA of identical scientific scope, RFA-DA-08-017, that solicits applications under the R03 grant mechanism. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. We anticipate a total of $1.5 M will be available to support RFA-DA-08-016 and RFA-DA-08-017. We anticipate funding up to 3 R01 awards and 3-8 R03 awards. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications. INMHA will consider co-funding meritorious applications in this area involving Canadian scientists and institutions.
