Nonhuman Primate Models of Hiv-Associated Pulmonary, Cardiovascular, and Hematological Disorders: The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) invites applications on the use of nonhuman primate models for the study of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)-associated pulmonary, cardiovascular, and hematologic disorders. These primate models (e.g., Simian Immunodeficiency Virus [SIV]- and Simian-Human Immunodeficiency Virus [SHIV]-infected monkeys) should be designed to facilitate the study of the biological and clinical characteristics of disorders of lung, heart, blood, and bone marrow, associated with HIV infections and co-infections as well as to evaluate novel methods for prevention and treatment of these conditions.
