Grant Description
This project is to facilitate in the development of protocols necessary to begn a full-scale, seamless land cover project that covers the entire North Slope of Alaska. The North Slope Science Initiative (NSSI) is a legislatively approved organization (Section 348, Energy Policy Act of 2005) that has as its goals to coordinate collection of scientific data for better understanding of the North Slope and its environs. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is the designated administrative agency for the implementation of NSSI and is the primary interface with the public, industry and academia, federal, state and local governments.
