Notice of Intent to Award: Ecosystem Dynamics in the White Zone: History, Drivers, and Restoration Implications: Notice of intent to award, applications will not be accepted for this agreement. This task agreement is being awarded to Florida International University under South Florida CESU Master Cooperative Agreement: P16AC00032. This Task Agreement will assess the changing status plant communities in the Evergladesâ¿¿ coastal wetlands in response to changing water management and sea-level rise. It builds upon findings from previous studies that assessed patterns of plant community and salinity change in these same wetlands between the 1940s and 1990s. The same principal investigator who conducted the 1990s study will repeat that study, sampling the same sites with the same techniques, while additionally utilizing new remote sensing technologies to expand information on the effects of sea-level rise and water management on the Everglades. Completion of the tasks of this Task Agreement will provide a definitive 70 year history of ecological change and results will serve as a benchmark to assess and understand how restoration projects and accelerating sea-level rise will shape the future of the Everglades.
