Agency Name: Department of Labor Bureau of International Labor Affairs(ILAB) 200 Constitution Avenue Washington, DC 20210 Description The DOL Office of Procurement Services, is seeking to award a sole source Cooperative Agreement to The University of Texas at Arlington, OSHA Region VI Education Center, Division for Enterprise Development,140 W. Mitchell, Arlington, TX 76010, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB). The funding will provide specialized training "train-the-trainer" seminars in the United States and India to improve hazard recognition and awareness skills in the general industry, occupational medicine, mining, and construction sectors. The training will support the Agency's outreach efforts with the government of India to assist them with meeting their immediate needs for safety and health education in the construction, emergency management, mine and chemical safety occupations. The needs-based design will be structured to meet a key objective: deliver a train-the-trainer component to members of government and industry who will be trained in multiple disciplines as well as adult learning methods and classroom techniques. Workshops, break-out sessions by specialty areas, and demonstrations have been incorporated into the curriculum to provide opportunities for participants to dialogue about their experiences and how best to apply new standards and techniques for improvement to their work environment. The University of Texas Arlington (UTA) is uniquely position and available to provide the diverse set of specialty topics in mining, occupational medicine, and occupational safety and health to meet project requirements. UTA has consistently been rated by OSHA as the top performing education center nationally. There are 23 Education centers nationally that are reviewed by an OSHA qualification process to become authorized. UTA was selected after a pool of the education centers revealed that it was the only center with the expertise and availability to conduct the wide array of topics in mine, occupational medicine and occupational safety for seminars.
