Novel Instrumental Techniques for Basic Energy Research: Electrochemistry and Quantum Materials: The Office of Basic Energy Sciences (BES), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), announces its interest in receiving grant applications for support of research to develop new instrumental techniques in two priority areas: (A) electrochemical systems to advance basic scientific understanding of chemical transformations and energy flow in systems relevant to DOE missions; and (B) novel, small scale instrumentation to investigate some of the outstanding scientific questions in quantum materials research.

A companion announcement (LAB 16-1480) describes the parallel opportunity for DOE national laboratory applications.Applicants that are not domestic organizations should be advised that:• Individual applicants are unlikely to possess the skills, abilities, and resources to successfully accomplish the objectives of this FOA.
