Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention (NEPQR) - Registered Nurses in Primary Care (RNPC) Training Program: This notice solicits applications for the Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention (NEPQR) – Registered Nurses in Primary Care (RNPC) Training Program.  The purpose of this four-year training program is to recruit and train nursing students and current registered nurses (RNs) to practice to the full scope of their license in community-based primary care teams to increase access to care, with an emphasis on chronic disease prevention and control, including mental health and substance use conditions.  The program aims to achieve a sustainable primary care nursing workforce equipped with the competencies necessary to address pressing national public health issues, even the distribution of the nursing workforce, improve access to care and improve population health outcomes by strengthening the capacity for basic nurse education and practice and addressing national nursing needs under three priority areas: education, practice and retention, as authorized by PHS Act sections 831(a)-(c) and 831A(a)-(c).

Additional Information on Eligibility
In accordance with Sections 831(g) and 831A(f) of PHS Act, eligible applicants include accredited schools of nursing, as defined by section 801(2), health care facilities, or a partnership of such a school and facility. Schools of nursing affiliated with the proposed project must be an accredited public or private school.  Applicants must provide documentation of current accreditation by a national nurse education accrediting agency or state approval agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the purposes of nursing education as Attachment 1.  Individuals are not eligible to apply.   In addition to the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau may apply.  Tribes and Tribal organizations may apply for these funds, if otherwise eligible.  Foreign entities are not eligible for this HRSA award.
