OJJDP FY 2007 Family Drug Courts Program: The goal of the Family Drug Courts Program is to build the capacity of states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments to develop and establish drug courts for substance-abusing adults who are involved with the family court due to child abuse and neglect issues. The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (Public Law 103-322) provides the statutory authority for this program. The program provides seed money and does not provide long-term support. It is expected that successful applicants will develop and begin implementation of a sustainability plan during the course of the grant period in order to continue the operation of the family drug court once the grant period ends.
