OVC FY 2018 Victim Assistance Fellowship Program: Translation and Dissemination of Statistical Data: The individual awarded funding under this fellowship will enhance the efforts of OVC and BJS to improve the synthesis and translation of social science research and statistical findings to inform practice and policies in the victim services field. The successful candidate must demonstrate substantial knowledge of data and research related to victimization and victim services, and have the skills to communicate orally and in writing with a broad audience of stakeholders. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in statistics or survey methodology. OVC expects to make one award of up to $400,000 under this program. OVC expects to make the award for a 24-month period of performance, to begin on October 1, 2018. OVC and BJS will conduct one pre-application webinar on Thursday, June 7, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. eastern time. Participation in the webinar is optional. OVC and BJS staff will review the solicitation requirements and conduct a question and answer session with interested potential applicants. Additional Information on Eligibility
Eligible applicants are individuals who have prior, documented experience regarding the funding and administration of victim assistance and compensation programs and the major challenges, developments, and needs in the victim service field. The successful candidate must demonstrate substantial knowledge of data and research related to victimization and victim services, and have the skills to communicate orally and in writing with a broad audience of stakeholders. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in statistics or survey methodology. Applicants must be able to be onsite at either OVC or BJS in Washington, D.C., throughout a 24-month project period; the fellow’s primary task will be translating BJS and OVC statistical data for increased utility in the victim service field. Organizations are not eligible to apply. All recipients and subrecipients must forgo any profit or management fee. Under this solicitation, an individual may submit only one application. If an individual submits more than one application, only the last application submitted will be reviewed. OVC may elect to fund applications submitted under this FY 2018 solicitation in future fiscal years, dependent on, among other considerations, the merit of the applications and on the availability of appropriations.
