Occupational Exposure Risk on Reproduction/Development: This funding opportunity will use the R01 award mechanism to support research projects in addressing various aspects of the problems associated with developing innovative methods for quantifying reproductive and developmental risks from exposure to environmental and occupational chemicals, and/or projects to identify and investigate study populations exposed to chemicals involved in reproductive or developmental toxicity. Approximately 1 million dollars will be committed in FY 2005 to fund 3-4 new and/or competitive continuation grants in response to this RFA. An applicant may request a project period of up to 3 years and a budget for direct costs up to 150,000 dollars per year. Applications may be submitted by domestic and foreign, public and private, for-profit and non-profit organizations, faith-based or community-based organizations and eligible agencies of the Federal government. Any individual with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary t! o carry out the proposed research is invited to work with their institution to develop an application for support. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIOSH programs. Only one application per applicant can be submitted in response to this announcement. Applications must be prepared using the PHS 398 research grant application instructions and forms (rev. 5/2001).
