Oil & Gas Surface Compliance Internship (BLM Wyoming): This project is designed to match qualified college students or graduates with mentors and internship opportunities in the BLM. The purpose of this project is to provide a framework for cooperation and coordination to promote the professional training and awareness of fluid mineral management techniques as they relate to overall public land management. The objective of this project is to create an arrangement between the BLM and an organization willing to act as an intermediary to provide an intern for the Fiscal Year 2007 field season. A wide variety of conditions of approval (COAs) and other rules/regulations are applied to the development, production, and abandonment of oil & gas wells. The overall objective would be to further operator compliance with responsibilities associated with oil and gas development by enhancing the BLM Rawlins District inspection and enforcement capabilities. This would be achieved by establishing a mentoring program whereby current college students or recent graduates work directly with fluid mineral surface program projects while receiving professional development opportunities and experience with a federal land management agency.
