- Grant Description
- This is a notice of intent to award without competition the following project: The Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance program of the National Park Service has partnered with the Outdoor Foundation to support a coalition of other groups working toward this common goal by carrying out a project called Outdoor Nation. This initiative engages young adults in leadership for outdoor recreation and conservation. Public, private and nonprofit sectors are all represented in the partnership. Further, Outdoor Nation will increase the effectiveness of recreation and conservation organizations in all sectors, public, private and non-profit; enhance relationships among all sectors of the outdoor recreation and conservation community; and invite meaningful participation and leadership in the fields of outdoor recreation and conservation from young people throughout the country. The success of Outdoor Nation is contingent upon the ability of the NPS, the Outdoor Foundation, and other partners to collaborate seamlessly in implementing programs and other enterprises that serve public interests and needs. This project, "Outdoor Nation Network," will create the initial internet platform for communication, community building and marketing outdoor recreation and conservation to the young and tech-savvy generation. The Outdoor Foundation will work in partnership with the NPS to develop the network and its community-building capacity, allowing everyone engaged in Outdoor Nation to collaborate more effectively on efforts to invite young adults outdoors and into leadership roles.
