PRM NGO Projects in Yemen for Somali Refugees: Limited funding is available to support NGOs working with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Yemen to support refugees from the Horn of Africa (primarily Somalia, Ethiopia, and Eritrea). Proposed activities should support UNHCR in responding to the basic needs of new and existing refugee populations in Yemen. NGOs are encouraged to submit proposals focused on supplementing UNHCR or host government services primarily in camp-based or transit center locations. Sectors supported by PRM may include health, water, sanitation, education, community services, psychosocial support, livelihoods development and training, gender-based violence prevention and response, and HIV/AIDS prevention and response.PRM will accept proposals from any NGO that is able to satisfy these guidelines although, given our budgetary constraints, priority will be given to proposals from organizations that can demonstrate (1)a working relationship with UNHCR and 2007 UNHCR funding and/or support for the proposed activities and/or overall program;(2) a proven track record in providing proposed assistance in Yemen; (3) evidence of coordination with the host government and other international and non-governmental organizations working in the area of activity; and (4)appropriate targeting of beneficiaries in coordination with UNHCR, the host government, and other relevant organizations.PRM encourages NGOs to contact PRM/AFR Mary Lange ([email protected]) or PRM/AFR Program Office Amy Wendt ([email protected] or 202-663-3622) prior to proposal submission to determine if proposed activities meet PRM priorities given limited NGO funding. For more details on this specific opportunity, please click on the "Full Announcement" Grants.gov link above.
