Grant Description
The purpose of this funding opportunity is to strengthen the expertise of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) by supporting multiple Collaborative Programs with the United States Centers for Disease Control, to implement public health programs and strengthen the zoonotic public health systems including epidemiological surveillance of emerging infectious disease among animals that have the potential to transfer to the human population, veterinary laboratory diagnosis and response capacity for priority zoonotic diseases and animal health conditions throughout Pakistan, to provide training for students and Pakistani veterinary public health professionals in basic and applied epidemiology, disease surveillance, outbreak response, public health and program planning, to strengthen the PARC's institutional capacity to conduct zoonotic health science to plan, implement and evaluate animal-human health programs, conduct surveillance, respond to disease outbreaks, and develop interventions, as well as to support existing national and regional disease prevention, detection and control efforts.
