Partnerships for Forest Conservation: Forest Law Enforcement and Governance in Latin America: The Office of Ecology and Natural Resource Conservation (ENRC) of the Bureau of Oceans, Environment, and Science (OES) at the Department of State announces an open competition to support regional and local initiatives that demonstrate a strong commitment to Forest Law Enforcement and Governance in Latin America through capacity building to reduce illegal logging, address corruption, improve legal and policy frameworks, and strengthen stakeholder participation in forest-related decision making. This will complement USG efforts under bilateral and regional FTAs as well as build on lessons learned from regional Forest Law Enforcement and Governance process in Africa and Asia. This announcement invites organizations to submit proposals addressing the objectives referenced above. Total funding available is $99,000. The Office of Ecology and Natural Resource Conservation anticipates funding one project from this competition. Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs), research institutions, International Organizations (IO), and U.S. and non-US colleges and universities are eligible to submit proposals to support awareness raising, assessment of country policies, and capacity building with respect to Forest Law Enforcement and Governance.
