Partnerships for Hepatitis C Vaccine Development: - The purpose of this RFA is to stimulate the development of vaccines against infection with Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and its chronic sequelae. Research may include but is not limited to one or more of the following: 1) the design and construction of vaccines against HCV infection; 2) preclinical evaluation of vaccine candidates; and 3) pilot scale manufacture of vaccine candidates. - The total amount available in FY 2006 is $2 million. - Two to three new awards are anticipated. - The mechanism used will be a single-project Cooperative Agreement (U01). - Eligible organizations include: - For-profit or non-profit organizations - Public or private institutions, such as universities, colleges, hospitals, and laboratories - Units of State and local governments - Eligible agencies of the Federal government - Domestic institutions/organizations - Foreign institutions/organizations - Faith-based or community-based organizations - Eligible investigators include any individual with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed work. - Each applicant may submit only one application. - Applications must be prepared using the PHS 398 research grant application instructions and forms: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/phs398/phs398.html. - Telecommunications for the hearing impaired is available at: TTY 301-451-0088.
