- Grant Description
- The Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), Mid-Pacific Region, intends to award a cooperative agreement to the University of California, Berkeley pursuant to the authority of Public Law 102-575, Central Valley Project Improvement Act, Section 3406. The purpose of the project is to provide a cooperative study of Delta water temperature as part of a broader effort to determine the causes and consequences of the Pelagic Organisms Decline (POD). The objectives are to: (i) determine historical trends in Delta water temperature with particular emphasis on the frequency and duration of threshold temperatures important to fish; (ii) evaluate spatial variability of Delta water temperature, especially lateral and vertical variation at long term monitoring stations and differences between mainstem and off-channel reaches; and (iii) use modeling to determine how thermal refugia for fish are established and maintained.
