Preliminary Evaluation of Environmental DNA for Monitoring Amphibians in Yellowstone National Park: The goals in 2013 are to develop and validate species-specific molecular markers for four species of native amphibians in Yellowstone National Park. A secondary goal is to begin evaluating whether DNA markers can detect amphibian species in wetlands that are monitored annually using traditional visual encounter surveys. Ultimately, our goal is to examine whether DNA monitoring can provide additional or more cost-effective insight about the distribution and abundance of native amphibians in wetlands of Yellowstone National Park.
