Prenatal Alcohol Exposure Among High-Risk Populations: Relationship to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome: The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) invite cooperative agreement applications for the development of community-linked studies to investigate the role of prenatal alcohol exposure in the risk for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and adverse pregnancy outcomes such as stillbirth and fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS), and how they may be inter- related. The investigators will work collaboratively under cooperative agreements with NICHD and NIAAA over a three-year period to plan and pilot multidisciplinary investigations using common protocols, within communities at high risk for prenatal maternal alcohol consumption. The long-term goals of this initiative are to decrease fetal and infant mortality and improve child health in these communities.
