Prince William Forest Park Cultural Landscape Field School: Project Goals – The goal of this Task Agreement is to provide college students opportunities for hands-on experience in applying cultural landscape methodologies at a park as part of an intensive summer field school. Project Objectives – As the primary project objective, Cultural Landscapes Inventories (CLI) will be prepared for properties within Prince William Forest Park. The National Park Service will provide a learning environment for qualified students in the historic preservation program from the University of Mary Washington, to assist NPS employees in the documentation of cultural landscapes within Prince William Forest Park. During the summer field school, students will learn how to prepare cultural landscape inventories, which include: conducting archival research; inventorying and surveying the existing conditions; writing narratives; and preparing graphics to support analysis and evaluation of landscape features/cultural resources.
