R and D For Reduction In Parasitic Energy Losses In Class 3-8 Trucks: The National Nuclear Security Administration Service Center, Albuquerque, New Mexico is seeking applicants for the subject project. The DOE Office of FreedomCar and Vehicle Technologies has set a goal of improving the efficiency and emissions performance of Class 1-8 trucks through the use of advanced diesel engines, emission control technologies, hybrid electric propulsion systems, and reduction of parasitic energy losses. This solicitation includes a call for research and development in five topic areas. An applicant may submit an application for all five topic areas. The solicitation attached describes each topic area and what is required to be considered for award. There is a cost share requirement of 50% under this solicitation. Pre-applicatons and final applications must be submitted by the electronic method stated in the solicitation. Due date and time for the final applicationss is set for May 15, 2003 before 4:00pm, MST.
