- Grant Description
- For the 2007 Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP), Arizona NRCS is issuing this Request for Proposals. WHIP provides 75% federal costshare assistance to implement wildlife habitat development projects. This method of delivering the WHIP is an attempt to adequately service the increasing number of project proposals involving wildlife habitat improvements on large landscapes, with multiple partners and multiple landowners. Emphasis is being placed on those projects where the focus is on grassland restoration, riparian restoration, wetland restoration and/or bat habitat protection. Proposals will be ranked according to how well the proposal meets National and State WHIP priorities. Projects that directly benefit federally listed threatened or endangered species are eligible to receive 90% costshare in implementing the project. These types of projects will follow the guidelines listed in this RFP under "Essential Plant and Animal Habitat." Authority of the NRCS to enter into agreements under the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program can be found at 16 U.S.C., 383a, 7CFR Part 636 (CFDA 10.914)
