The Government of the Republic of Mozambique has assigned overall responsibility to the Ministry of Women and Social Action - Ministerio da Mulher e Acção Social (MMAS) for coordinating care for orphans and vulnerable children and home visits for psychosocial and community support to people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. To fulfill its mission to assist persons infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS, MMAS will need to work with a variety of organizations that provide basic social services, and with the Ministry of Health (MOH), to ensure smooth integration, and avoid duplication of services.
Grant Description
The purpose of this funding announcement is to progressively build an indigenous, sustainable response to the national HIV epidemic through the rapid expansion of innovative, culturally appropriate, high-quality HIV/AIDS prevention and care interventions, and improved linkages to HIV counseling and testing and HIV treatment services targeting rural and other underserved populations. This program announcement will support HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment activities and training for the staff under the purview of the Ministry of Women and Social Action (MMAS) of Mozambique. MMAS's main emphasis under this agreement is to provide support to families and communities infected and affected by HIV. The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to enhance the ability of MMAS to coordinate these important HIV/AIDS mitigating activities.
