Grant Description
The goal of the Regional Joint Venture Office is to implement effective and scientifically based bird conservation projects in the Prairie Pothole and Upper Mississippi River and Great Lakes Region Joint Ventures. Proposal requests shall address the goals and objectives in either Joint Venture's Implementation Plan, or one or more of the formally recognized migratory bird initiatives, including the North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP), the U.S. Shorebird Conservation Plan, the North American Waterbird Conservation Plan, the Partners in Flight Landbird Conservation Plan, and various upland game bird plans. In addition, opportunities that address conservation priorities in State Wildlife Action Plans and Joint Venture Focal Species should be highlighted. Information about all of these migratory bird initiatives can be found at the North American Bird Conservation Intiative website: http://www.nabci-us.org/plans.html. The websites for information about Joint Venture Implementation Plans are: http://www.fws.gov/midwest/NAWMP and http://ppjv.org. Information about State Wildlife Action Plans is located at: http://www.iafwa.org/action_plans_states.html. Proposals for monitoring, applied research, and evaluation that will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of landscape bird conservation will be given a high priority. Proposals related to coordination and outreach, planning, and priority-area habitat restoration or enhancement that will help achieve the goals identified in the plans above will also be considered. All submissions shall explain how the impact/outcome of the proposal is regional in scope. All proposals should have a minimum 1:1 match of non-federal dollars to Joint Venture request, and the partners providing match need to be identified. The proposals match ratio will be taken into consideration during the evaluation process. Each proposal shall include: a detailed scope of work, proposed project timeline, and a budget table identifying partners and match, a task timeline, and project cost details. A project report detailing background, methods, and results of the funded work is required within six months of completion, and annual interim reports are required for multiple-year projects. If you are unable to submit an electronic application, mail the required information to Barbara Pardo, Regional Joint Venture Coordinator, 1 Federal Drive, Fort Snelling, Minnesota, 55111. If you have any questions, Ms. Pardo may be contacted at 612-713-5433 or Barbara_Pardo@fws.gov.
