Reintroduction of Western Pond Turtles at Golden Gate National Recreation Area: This collaborative project between the SF Zoo and NPS staff at GOGA is designed to reintroduce WPT over several years into GOGA localities in Marin County where they formerly occurred. Both the SF Zoo and NPS staff also anticipate involvement with a local university (Sonoma State University) to foster educational and research opportunities for students and faculty. The goal is to introduce sufficient juvenile WPTs to establish a self-sustaining population in at least one of the three GOGA watersheds in Marin County.
