Removal of S. densiflora: Funds under this single source award to are to be used to conduct removal of S. densiflora using mechanical and/or chemical methods. High horse power, tri-bladed brushcutters will be employed to grind down into the S. densiflora rhizome zone (2-3 inches), killing the plant. Detailed reports describing these techniques and their effectiveness have been produced by Refuge staff and are available for review upon request. The focus of this project will be initial treatments and re-treatment of invasive S. densiflora in Refuge owned salt marshes and tidal areas. This award is made under the Authority of the Fish and Wildlife Act of 1956, as amended, 16 U.S.C. 742a-742j under the U.S. Fish and Wildlife (Service)'s CFDA 15.608.
