Grant Description
Under this announcement, DOE is solicitingapplications fromFederally-recognized Tribes, Alaska Native villages and Alaskan NativeCorporations (hereafter referred to as ?Tribes?) to either:1) Conduct feasibility studies for the development of economicallysustainablerenewable energy installations; or2) Sustainable renewable energy development projects.Feasibility studies must be the result of a previously conducted resourceanalysis, which resulted in an identified renewable energy resource.Development projects must be the result of a previously conductedfeasibilitystudy, and may be either: 1) a renewable energy hardware demonstration as astep toward commercial development; or 2) pre-development activitiesassociatedwith planned future commercial development. The cover page must indicatethetype of application (i.e., Feasibility Study or Development Project) beingsubmitted.DOE will only consider applications from Tribes on whose Tribal Lands theproject will be located. For purposes of the announcement, Tribal Land isasdefined in Appendix A of the Funding Opportunities Announcement.Applicationsfrom a consortium of Tribes will be accepted but must be submitted by asingleTribe representing the consortium.Applications may include generation for local consumption, direct use suchasbuilding uses, water pumping, or other off-grid power uses, or for exportoffTribal Lands to generate revenue. Applications proposing the evaluation ofproduct marketing opportunities, assessment of manufacturing opportunities,product development, or the construction of manufacturing facilities willnotbe considered.Eligible technologies under this announcement include, but are not limitedtothe following: photovoltaic (solar electric), concentrating solar power,solarthermal systems (i.e., active or passive solar technologies for space orwaterheating, or power generation technologies), wind, biomass power,hydroelectric,geothermal electric generation, geothermal resources for direct heating orcooling applications, and other renewable or renewable hybrid systems.Funds for this announcement are currently not available. Awards under thisannouncement are subject to the amount of discretionary funding, if any,appropriated by Congress.Interested parties should access the DOE Golden Field Office Home Page at,http://www.go.doe.gov/funding.html , and access the announcement in theIndustry Interactive Procurement System (IIPS) web site by clicking on the?Access? link. The Golden Home Page also provides instructions onregisteringand submitting applications in IIPS.
