Grant Description: CDC?s Procurement and Grants Office has published a program announcement entitled, ?Request for Applications to Determine Pharmacokinetics of Clostridium Botilinum Neurotoxins A, B, C, E and F?. Approximately $2,000,000 will be available in fiscal year 2004 to fund one to two awards. The purpose of this research grant is to support the development and utilization of a non-human primate model system to gather data on the adsorption, distribution, localization, metabolism and clearance of botulinum neurotoxins. The data obtained from this study will aid the development of methods and procedures to rapidly identify and more effectively treat a human botulinum neurotoxin via natural or intentional mechanisms. The application deadline is June 28, 2004, and the estimated funding date is September 1, 2004.
