Additional Information on Eligibility
Organizations submitting statements must meet the following criteria: *Be a U.S. non-profit organization meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c) (3). * Organizations must have a demonstrated capacity to work in Iraq on democracy and human rights-related issues and in challenging operating environments. We are particularly interested in receiving proposals from organizations that have experience with successfully administering U.S. Government grant funds. DRL and G/IWI reserve the right to request additional background information on organizations that do not have previous experience administering federal grant awards. These applicants may be subject to limited funding on a pilot basis. *Have existing, or the capacity to develop, active partnerships with in-country organization(s). *Organizations may form consortia and submit a partnership proposal. However, one organization should be designated as the lead applicant.
Grant Description
In July 2007 the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) submitted to Congress the United States Strategy for Democracy and Governance in Iraq, 2007-2010. In order to address some of the critical challenges outlined in the strategy, DRL and The Office of the Senior Coordinator for International Women's Issues (G/IWI) announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a grant award from the U.S. Department of State's Fiscal Year 2007 Human Rights and Democracy Fund from organizations interested in submitting proposals for projects that support the goals and objectives of the strategy.
