- Grant Description
- Purpose. This FOA issued by the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) (National Institutes of Health) encourages Resource Related Research Project grant applications (R24) aimed at developing, characterizing or improving animal models of human diseases or improving diagnosis and control of diseases of laboratory animals. This FOA applies only to R24 grant applications for potential support by the Division of Comparative Medicine, NCRR. The animal models and related materials to be developed must address the research interests of two or more of the categorical NIH Institutes and Centers. In addition, projects that predominantly address the research interests of one NIH Institute or Center, but that are peripherally related to the research interests of other Institutes and Centers will not be considered appropriate for this Program Announcement. An example of an inappapropriate request is one exclusively involving an animal model of cancer. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the R24 grant mechanism Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary, but will not exceed 4 years. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the quality, duration, and costs of the applications received.
