- Grant Description
- -Purpose. The primary objective of this program announcement is to support research that focuses on the interaction or relationship between the right ventricle and the lungs in both health and disease, and to stimulate research that will provide a more complete and clear picture of the mechanisms of right heart failure associated with chronic lung diseases. We encourage research which concentrates on building a foundation of basic knowledge of right ventricle physiology and the basic cellular, molecular and biomechanical factors contributing to right ventricular dysfunction associated with pulmonary diseases. -This program will promote both basic and translational research. Applications in response to this FOA may use a variety of approaches, such as animal models, animal tissue, human tissue and plasma samples, and clinical outcomes. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the R01 grant mechanism.
