Romania Civil Society Strengthening Program: DescriptionThe United States Government, represented by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Regional Contracting Office in Budapest, Hungary, is seeking applications from qualified organizations interested in implementing a program to strengthen civil society organizations (CSOs) in Romania and to help them play their intended role in Romanias democratic transition. This project shall support an active, independent civil society that can play a watchdog function and serve as the ultimate check on the powers and actions of the government; provide alternative institutions to represent citizens interests, and link citizens together with common concerns. Subject to the availability of funds, USAID intends to provide approximately $6,350,000 in total USAID funding to be allocated over a 30 (thirty) month period. The Strategic Team requests that applicants demonstrate their commitment to program success by including cost- sharing. The recommended cost share is 20% of the total activity cost.
