Additional Information on Eligibility
Entities eligible to apply for grants include State emergency management agencies or a similar office of the State (e.g., the office that has primary emergency management or floodplain management responsibility); the District of Columbia; American Samoa, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands; Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands; and Indian Tribal governments. Each State, Territory, Commonwealth, or Indian Tribal government shall designate one agency to serve as the Applicant. For the definition of the term Indian Tribal government refer to 44 CFR 201.2.
Grant Description
The SRL Program provides funding to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of flood damage to severe repetitive loss structures insured under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Participation in this program is voluntary. However, the SRL program differs from FEMA's other mitigation grant programs in that those property owners who decline offers of mitigation assistance will be subject to increases to their insurance premium rates. Interested Applicants should consult Part III (A) of the FY 2010 Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Grant Program Guidance.
