Species Conservation: THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD, AND THERE IS NO "FULL ANNOUNCEMENT" ASSOCIATED WITH THIS NOTICE. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service intents to award a Cooperative Agreement to Ken Meyer, PhD, in the amount of $77,500. The Service proposes to provide financial assistance in helping maintain progress on on-going efforts to conserve a list of priority species (Focal Species) as designated by the Service's Migratory Bird Program. Beginning in 2005, the Migratory Bird Program established a list of 139 priority species which represent needed conservation efforts to maintain healthy populations. The objective of the Focal Species Program was to show improved populations of a subset of these species every five years. Many of these species require research due to a lack of basic biological information. Others are currently being monitored by require additional efforts to establish current population status or trends. The period of performance is from date of award through September 30, 2014. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed assistance based upon Departmental Manual 505 DM 2, paragraph 2.14(b)(2) is solely within the discretion of the Government.
