- Grant Description
- The HHS/CDC/NCIRD Influenza Division (ID) is seeking a cooperative agreement with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) within the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to strengthen capacity in India to detect and evaluate existing and emerging respiratory diseases; to estimate the burden of certain respiratory viral and bacterial pathogens; to evaluate the acceptability, efficacy and effectiveness of vaccines; and to evaluate other interventions that could reduce the burden of existing and emerging respiratory infectious diseases. Higher incidence of and susceptibility to respiratory infectious diseases in India provides an opportunity to learn more about the epidemiology and preventability of respiratory infectious diseases of emerging importance globally, as well as to detect new or re-emerging respiratory infectious diseases of potential global importance, including seasonal, pandemic and avian influenza.
