State/Federal/Boating Organizations Cooperative Partnering Efforts: The Coast Guard is authorized to provide financial assistance for selected "national boating safety activities of national nonprofit public service organizations." Section 13103(c) of Title 46, United States Code, provides that up to 5% of the funds made available in a fiscal year for allocation from the Boat Safety Account of the Aquatic Resources Turst Fund may be used to support boating safety projects undertaken by eligible organizations. Such organizations may receive grants, the amount of funding being determined by the needs of the Coast Guard, budget limitations and negotiations between the Coast guard and a potential grantee. The amount of funding available for grants this fiscal year is $2,950,000.
