State Grants for Perinatal Depression: Services for Maternal and Infant Mental Health: The purpose of this program is to provide comprehensive, coordinated services for maternal depression and other mental health problems (particularly anxiety disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder)during pregnancy, through at least the first year after pregnancy. Maternal mental health services must be combined with services for infant mental health within a service system model that focuses care on the mother-infant pair or dyad. The major emphasis of this program will be on low-income women and women who experience low birth-weight or other high-risk deliveries.

If designated by the State Title V agency, and as cited in 42 CFR Part 51a.3 (a), an Indian tribe or tribal organization (as those terms are defined in 25 U.S.C. 450b), or a faith-based or community-based organization, is eligible to apply for this Federal funding.
